EVANGELINE CHONG, TEACHER
Evangeline started dancing at the age of eight. She has studied Chinese classical and folk dances, Classical ballet as well as Modern and Jazz with many local and overseas renowned artists at local Arts Institutions such as NAFA & LaSalle SIA. Her passion and enthusiasm for dance have seen her through many years of training and the results have paid off.
Evangeline has more than 18 years of teaching experience under her belt, especially with Children Dance Programmes. She is a certified teacher under the Beijing Dance Academy Chinese Dance Graded Examination Syllabus (BDA) and a Registered Member of the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD). Her passion to bring dance training to the young drove her to pursue a Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education. As a dancer, she has performed at many local major events including National Day Parades, Chingay Parades, Singapore Festival of Arts, and Local Dance Group Performances.
CHERYL EDINA TEO, TEACHER
Having completed the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) Intermediate Exam, Cheryl is currently training at the renowned UK’s Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Intermediate. She has been teaching ballet to children at local pre-schools, kindergartens as well as enrichment centres for the past few years. In 2006, Cheryl attended a dance exchange workshop in New Zealand and performed in a concert held in collaboration between China Welfare Institute and Crestar School of Dance. In 2008, Cheryl participated in the CSTD Asia-Pacific Dance Competition and performed for Crestar School of Dance. Apart from ballet and teaching, she is also a student at the National University of Singapore and a member of NUS’ Dance Synergy.
NICOLE ONG S.C, TEACHER
Nicole is trained in several dance genres under the tutelage of reputed instructors. She has undergone classical ballet training with Lim Beng Soon, Ravenna Tucker, Pamela Carvalho, Jaime Redfern, Cheng Hsien Fa and Li Tao. Nicole obtained her Classical Ballet Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) majors Advanced 1 under Pamela Carvalho and her Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) majors Intermediate. She dances Latin with Shawn and Gladys Tay and Modern Dance with Caren Carino and Tammy L. Wong. Nicole has performed in ‘The Nutcracker’ as Snow, Flower and Flute; in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ as Juliet and also performed in ‘Just Dance’ at Victoria Theatre. She has won Gold in the Singapore Youth Festival Indian Classical Dance Category in 1999 and 2003, and the Bronze in the Modern Dance Category in 2001.
GAO YU WEN, TEACHER
Yu Wen graduated from Shanghai Dance School, majoring in Ballet. After her graduation, she earned a scholarship with Lasalle College of the Arts where she achieved BA (Hons) in Dance. As a professional dancer, Yu Wen has performed as part of many dance projects with Singapore Dance Theatre, T.H.E Dance Company and Esplanade. She has been invited as a choreographer and dancer to attend American Dance Festival in Duke University, U.S.A. in 2008. She is a member of Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) and T.H.E. Dance Company.
DORENA LIM WAN YAN, TEACHER
Having completed RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS), Dorena is now a RAD certified teacher. She has completed RAD Advance Foundation Exam and is currently training for RAD Advance 1 and CSTD Sub-Elementary. Dorena has been teaching children ballet for the past three years at various private dance schools such as Dreamz International and local community centres. In 2009, she joined Dancing Star to conduct ballet programmes at local pre-schools and kindergartens. Apart from ballet and teaching, Dorena is also involved in the children’s’ department at her church, working with children from pre-school to lower primary. Dorena has performed in ‘Just Dance’ at Victoria Theatre alongside with Nicole Ong and at other performances.
GRACE SIM, TEACHER
Having started dancing at Crestar Learning Centre in 1995, Grace has achieved Honorary Mention at both the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Summer Schools. Under the tutelage of June Lee, Cheah Mei Sing, Jamaludin Jalil, Grace Leong and Kuik Swee Boon, Grace has achieved extensive training in Classical Ballet. She obtained her Classical Ballet RAD Advanced Foundation Vocational Examination with Honours under Cheah Mei Sing at the Singapore Ballet Academy. She has also trained in Contemporary Dance under Kuik Swee Boon, Sylvia Yong, Aaron Khek, Gillian Tan, Caren Carino, Bernd Michael Teichmann and was part of T.H.E. Second Dance Company. She has performed in various Contemporary and Classical Ballet repertoires such as Kuik Swee Boon’s ‘The Last Minute’, Marius Petipa’s ‘Don Quixote’ and ‘Glo’ by Cheah Mei Sing. Grace is currently pursuing the RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching.
ESNORAINE IDRIS, TEACHER
Esnoriane began ballet training with June Lee at Crestar Arts at the age of eleven. She attended summer school programmes which included those conducted by the Royal Academy of Dance and Commonwealth Society Teachers' of Dancing, in which she won a scholarship to Perth to compete. She also received a scholarship to attend classes at the Singapore Dance Theatre, during which she performed in "The Nutcracker". For the Royal Academy of Dance in Singapore, she has also participated in the "Bonae Voluntatis Gala" which is also known as the "Symphony of Dance".
