FELISA FERNANDEZ, CURRICULUM SPECIALIST (SPEECH & DRAMA)
Felisa is very passionate about teaching as well as acting. It is because of her love for theatre and her strong belief that children learn best through play, which has brought her to embark in her journey at Learning Horizon. She also believes that no two children are alike and that every child has the potential to develop their creative as well as their artistic skills. As such, she ensures that her lessons are not only lively and fun but also engaging for the young actors under her wings. She holds an advance Certificate in Early Childhood Education from National Institute of Education, a Diploma in Public Speaking from London College of Music and Drama and a Diploma in Speech & Drama from Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Felisa has much experience in developing the Speech and Drama curriculum and in conducting workshops for teachers and secondary pupils (Understanding Literature and Introduction to Shakespeare’s Plays). With her vast experience and competence in this field, she is the Curriculum Specialist in our Speech and Drama Department.
FAREENA NIZAR ALI, TEACHER
Fareena always believes in making her speech & drama sessions lively, relaxed and fun, which in turn makes the entire learning process thoroughly interactive and enjoyable for children. She holds a Diploma in Mass Communications from the Management Development Institute of Singapore (M.D.I.S), a Certificate in Preschool Teaching (CPT) from Singapore Institute of Management, and also a Foundation Teaching Certificate in Speech and Drama from Julia Gabriel Centre for Learning.
Her early years of teaching Speech & Drama were spent freelancing at various schools. She has taught different age groups ranging from preschool to upper primary. Fareena’s hobbies include reading, theatre and mixing with people from all walks of life.
Broadly, her philosophy is to encourage and motivate her students. At the end of the year, she hopes to develop every child to become more articulate and confident in front of an audience. It is also her wish that each child has good memories of the times he/she spent in her class. Fareena hopes to play a vital role in the early learning stages of the children in her care and witness his/her progression in the subject of Speech & Drama.
SARAH PARVEEN, TEACHER
Sarah holds a Diploma in Pre-School Education - Teaching from the Singapore Institute of Management and also a Diploma in Pre-school Education - Leadership from Seed Institute. In addition, she also has a Certificate in Speech and Drama, Phonics and Phonetics from Thinking Box Consultants. Sarah has taught Speech and Drama on a freelance basis to children from pre-school to secondary school before coming on board. Sarah enjoys teaching young children and has a strong interest in speech and drama. She tries to always make her lessons as fun as possible and to always bring out the best in every child in her care. She believes in continually equipping herself with the necessary skills throughout her teaching practice. She aims to further her studies in the field of Speech and Drama.
AASHESHA PATHAK, TEACHER
Aashesha worked as a senior teacher in the primary section of Amity International, one of India's best-known schools. She also served as a consultant to Achievers' – a theatrical and educational institution for school children. She then started her own kindergarten in India and had an enrollment of more than 50 children in less than a year. The institution acquired a reputation for its cosy environment, fun learning and numerous field trips.
Mrs Pathak holds a Master of Arts degree from India. Shas been teaching speech and drama at various branches of Learning Vision for the past two years. She is extremely fond of Indian dance and music and has helped the Indian schools here choreograph musicals for their various functions.
SAPNA, TEACHER
Sapna has varied professional background with stints in Advertising & Public Relations, I.T. and eventually settled down in Education. She holds a Certificate in Montessori Education from Indian Montessori Training College, Bangalore. To add to the portfolio, she also took a Speech and Drama course in Singapore from Julia Gabriel Centre for Learning in 2006. Sapna is also equipped with a Degree in Arts.
Sapna brings more than 6 years of teaching experience in Montessori Environment both in India and Singapore. She is fond of cooking Indian & continental dishes, loves reading fast-paced fiction novels and spends a part of her time doing sketches, charcoal & oil painting.
SUVADARSHINEE MISHRA, TEACHER
Suva is a positive teacher who is passionate about working with young children. She graduated in Sociology (honours) from Utkal University in India. She worked in an Art Gallery and the experience got her interested in paintings. She thus came to Singapore in 2002 and took up a Diploma in Western Art from Nanyang Institute of Fine Arts (NAFA). She then proceeded to teach art classes for children. Being a keen learner, she took up Speech & Drama course from Julia Gabriels and wants to inject fun to the children under her care.
VALAYAPALLIL SAILAJA PRASEEDA, TEACHER
Praseeda obtained a degree of Bachelor of Science from Mahatma Gandhi University in India. She taught in a Kindergarten in Singapore for a few years and further improved herself by obtaining a diploma of educational studies for her course studies in Phonics, Speech and Drama and Music and Movement, from The College Of Teachers.
Praseeda is a keen learner and she is very passionate about working with young children. With her lively personality, she will do her utmost best in injecting the same liveliness and fun to the students under her care.
KRISKA MARAMIL DE LEON CALUBAQUIB, TEACHER
Kriska has been teaching for the past six years and has handled children aged 1 ½ to 8 years old. She moved to Singapore in 2008 and has taught Math, Language Arts, Phonics, and Science to kindergarten children. She specializes in teaching Speech and Drama as she graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts in a prestigious school in the Philippines, the Ateneo de Manila University.
Kriska has also performed on numerous theatre productions in the Philippines, United States as well as in Singapore. She has also worked with children to stage productions like ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘Emperor's New Clothes’, and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ to name a few.
Her passion for teaching children combined with her chosen art form makes her classes a unique experience.
