Past Camps

Some of our past camps include:

Kids Olympia (June 10’)

Kids Olympia introduced the famous Hercules, back in his teenage days when he was a big school bully. His father, Zeus, punished him by taking his powers away. Upon realising his mistakes, Hercules organised a sports camp for all the children in town to participate in and live their sporting dreams. Focusing on Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Agility, Respect & Strength (S.T.A.R.S), the young Olympians engaged in many challenging yet fun relays and games and created their own team taglines, number tags and team flags. The children also learnt that exercise, together with good nutrition, contributes to a healthy lifestyle. With the help of a life-sized food pyramid, the children were introduced to the main food groups and the ones they should consume less or more of. To make the learning process even more exciting, there was a relay for the children to sort out the different food items into the pyramid. On the 3rd day, soccer and floorball experts were on hand to provide actual sports equipment for the children to have a go at. Other exciting sports activities included basketball, badminton and netball.

Buzz & Friends: Galaxy Quest (Nov/Dec 09’)

The children had loads of fun learning about what they could find and do in space at this camp packed choc-a-block with fun and engaging activities. As Becky had gone missing after she was last seen taking off with Empress Zurg, our young astronauts joined Buzz and friends to look for her in outer space. The children blasted off into space and came across satellites and learnt about their uses and importance. They also heard interesting facts about why things floated in space and were introduced to the concept of gravity. They visited astronauts at the International Space Station and took a peek into how they lived up in space. They enjoyed space food with the astronauts, and shared lengthy discussions about the Sun and the eight planets in the solar system. The children also heard about the Hubble Telescope and played a simplified game with binary-coded messages. Suddenly, a windstorm near Mars caused the children to crash. As they worked towards putting the shuttle back together, they learnt the true meaning of friendship and teamwork. As the children approached the gas planets on the last day, they ventured into Neptune and Uranus where they were tested on confidence, observational and memory skills in Neptune’s maze and Uranus’ moons. They were introduced to comets and made yummy snacks out of them – Edible Comets. Finally, the children find Becky, as they unveil a twist to the story and learn more about empathy and forgiveness.

A Knight’s Tale (June 09’)

This exciting camp took us all the way back into the medieval period, where William who was magically transported back into time, learnt of Prince Arthur’s kidnap from Merlin the Wizard. So together with the children, William embarked on a journey to save the future King of Camelot, through Courage, Faith & Unity. First up on their journey, they met Joan of Arc, who gave our young pages a glimpse of what life was like back then, and also the life of squires and knights. The children had a chance to train using the shields they creatively designed, and in order to cure Camelot’s queen, they danced to a medieval tune to remind her of Camelot’s joy. On the way to Evilia Land, the children sought help from the Vikings to ferry them across the ocean. But their ship became stuck! So they braved blindfolded, across fields of traps in order to find the magic element that could return the ship to sea. Oh no! They had a brush with Evilia herself, as she tried to tempt the young squires to join forces with her. Fortunately, the children were not fooled! They plucked up courage to burst the balloons and found the clues to the magic element. Upon reaching the Land of Evilia, the children met the dragon that was forced to work for Evilia. The young squires retrieved the Strength potion, crossed the spider web and managed to get the key to the Prince’s dungeon gate. In the process, the children’s math, memory, problem solving, sequencing and motor skills were enhanced and most importantly, they practised teamwork. After they saved Prince Arthur and Camelot, the children were knighted.

The END of Happily Ever After (Nov/Dec 08’)

Oh dear! The characters in Fairytale Land found themselves without a “happily ever after” ending just because the Fairy who was in-charge had gone for a spa holiday, leaving the Kingdom in hands of her two assistants. Well, they muddled up and accidentally caused the scales of good and evil to tilt towards the evil side. SO…did evil prevail or did the children find the villain and restore peace in Fairytale Land? Well, read on… In a land that was mis-managed by a pair of bumbling fairy assistants, the children experienced several familiar stories but with twisted endings. They were encouraged to discover the truth, rather than accept things at face value. At the Detective Bootcamp, the children acquired basic skills to be a detective, using cool detective equipment. They also honed their ‘sleuthing’ skills to look for clues to find the villain. Mission Accomplished! The children saved the day! At the camp, the children learnt what it means to persevere, be determined, hypothesise and believe in themselves. They also realised the importance of teamwork and were given many opportunities to think out of the box. Most importantly, they had fun whilst doing their best.

Camp Olympia (June 08’)

It all began in Olympia; Greece…The build-up to the Olympics had never been greater. The children joined little Pappius to find out what it takes to become a true Olympian. Together, they learnt about ancient Olympics and the Greek myths that surrounded it. They also met Citius, Altius, and Fortius on the road to Olympia. In Olympia, the children learnt about the history of the Olympics, its meaning and value conveyed by the 5 rings, motto and flame and the different disciplines that made up the Games. They also learnt that a true Olympian is a winner in his own right because he had worked very hard to be where he was and always came out stronger than when he had begun. The children also learnt what it takes to be a true athlete and to take pride not in winning but in knowing they had done their very best. Camp Olympia was also a physical education programme that imparted to children, the basics of track and field and other sports.

Saving Gaia (Nov/Dec 07’)

Queen Maya established her own kingdom where evil and destruction ruled. The Kingdom of Kruella was a place where pollution and environmental abuse was rampant. The citizens of Kruella disposed waste without thinking of the consequences, cleared land to build factories without considering the destruction of wildlife habitat, and damaged the environment needlessly. Pollution spewed over from Kruella into Faruen and the people there were suffering. Gaia, aka Mother Earth, was in distress when she saw what was going on. She called on the Green Guard and the Earth Buddies to help save the people of Faruen. Through the quest to save Faruen, the children were introduced to environmental conservation, global warming, the 3Rs, and daily threats we unknowingly make to the environment. They also learnt that amazing things could happen when they combined their efforts to work as a team, and gained valuable information about environmental dangers that were plaguing planet earth. The camp began with a colourful and exciting ceremony. The children said the Green Mission Pledge and designed their very own mission carry-all. They also learnt the 3R song and how they could do their part to cut down on pollution. They participated in creative recycling projects and made new things from waste.

Lulu and Hugo Mysteries (June 07’)

National Treasures from the World’s Treasures Exhibition missing? …or stolen? Upon reviewing security tapes, it was determined that this was the work of Jacques Banana aka Slippery Jack! Global alerts were sounded and this was a job for none other than the dynamic duo Lulu and Hugo. The fearless duo, together with a team of sleuths, criss-crossed the globe to track down the missing treasures: A golden veil from Italy, a 1000 year old ginseng from Korea, and a golden sculpture of Takahauman from Egypt. While on their quest, they visited the countries the artefacts were from, completed tasks that were put before them, crossed monstrous hurdles, and pieced together an intricate puzzle from clues that they found. On this colourful chase across the globe, the children were introduced to the culture, lifestyle, art, language, and history of 3 different countries. The characters they met along the way also imparted the importance of teamwork, honesty, integrity, and a never –say- die attitude. The children discovered interesting facts about the countries they visited. delved into the rich culture and history of the people. learnt local lingos and songs. explored local artwork and created their own beautiful masterpieces. were thrilled by the folklores and myths of each country. savoured the sumptuous food offerings of each country.

Time Travellers --> From Temasek To Singapura (Jun 06)

Over 3 exciting days, our little Time Travellers willl journey back in time to discover Singapore’s humble beginnings and how our nation has grown to what it is today. This colourful and fascinating journey will also give children a peek into their heritage, a feel of their roots and a better appreciation of the different cultures that make up Singapore.

Cool Science Investigation (Dec 05)

This is a fun-filled science themed holiday programme. In 3 days, children will take on the role as Cool Science Investigators (CSI) to investigate and learn the “science” behind everyday life situations and the world around them. Leading them in their investigations are Dr Whiz and his team of Science Investigators: Amy Aero, Barry Botany, Hazy Hydro and Sally Solar, just to name a few.

Some of their investigations will include:

Air and its power. How does air moves? Does it have force and power? How strong can a wind blow? Make a wind sock and anemometer.

Water, its form and shape. What causes waves to form? How do tsunamis occur? What happens when water freezes? Make ice cream and a “wave” bottle.

Light and the energy in light. How is energy harnessed from the sun? What lights up a bulb? Why we should not wear black on a hot day? Make a periscope and a solar powered fan.

Earth and its inhabitants. Who do we share our planet with? What creatures roam the earth often unseen? How old is that tree? Why do leaves always have a pointed tip?

Dr Whiz will guide the children to find out the answers to these questions and many more through discovery and exploration.
