What Is ADVENTURESCAPE All About?
• It is an adventure program organised by Learning Horizon engaging the expertise of SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre (SASC). Offered to children between the ages of 7 - 12 years old, this specially designed one-day outdoor program will fully engage students as a team to completing all the given challenges and tasks, progressing from simple to demanding ones.

What Is So Unique About This Programme? Why Should I Send My Child?
• The program provide opportunities for the students on the Development of Trust, Brainstorming as a Group and Fostering of Mutual Support while attempting some of the more difficult yet safe challenges such as the Canopy Challenge Walk and Slab Climbing, followed each time by debriefs to drive home the important learning points.
• This program will be Interactive and Experiential in nature. It employs an adventure-oriented “Learning by Doing” approach to meet the following program objectives:
 
-  To build self confidence in the individual
 
-  Enhance communication among participants
 
-  Fostering the team rapport and understanding its importance
• Using a “building blocks” approach, the complicity and demands of the challenges given to the participants will increase with time. This is based on the underlying principle of success breeds confidence in each level of success that will spur them on to the next level. The more demanding the tasks, the greater will be the sense of achievement and sense of belonging when they succeed.

What Activities Can My Child Look Forward To During The Programme?
• The day’s programme is divided into two major components:
 
1. Getting started (30 mins)
 
a. Ice Breakers
 
  -  Mood setting & preparing participants for the day’s programme
 
  -  Activities e.g. Blow Wind, Blow, Sumo Tapping, Pirates of the Caribbean
 
2. Working Out (3 hours)
 
a. Mini-Challenges (Sizing Up)
 
  -  To reinforce notion of team building, bonding, communication and trust
 
  -  To introduce a situation of chaos where the participants will derive understanding of team dynamics
 
  -  Teams will be formed at random such that as much as possible, participants do not end up with people they are familiar with
 
  -  Coloured wrist tags will differentiate the different groups
 
  -  Activities e.g. Chicken and Wolf, Walk the line, Catch me-Catch me not, Key Punch, Blind-Fold Square, Human Knots, Traffic Jam etc
 
b. Canopy Challenge Walk
 
  -  Raising awareness of importance of basic trust & support in one’s buddy
 
  -  Creating opportunities among buddies to have in-depth interactions through duo-challenge activity
 
c. Indoor Bouldering Gym
 
  -  Raising awareness of importance of basic trust & support in one’s buddy
 
3. The ADVENTURESCAPE Challenge (3 hours)
 
a. This is a series of activities that need to be accomplished by participants in a team.
 
b. These activities have different levels of difficulties and to accomplish them within a specified time.
 
c. After accomplishing each activity, the trainer will conduct a quick debrief to effect transfer of learning before releasing the group to its next activity.
 
  Challenges
 
a. Wonder Wall (Slab Wall)
 
  -  Outcome: Teamwork
 
b. Cave Man (Indoor Bouldering Gym)
 
  -  Outcome: Perseverance
 
c. Wet Wet Wild
 
  -  Outcome: Communication and team work
 
4. Transfer of Learning
 
a. Each trainer will take a group and recap what they have done and draw out participants’ key learning points
 
b. Participants will express their learning on big sheets of paper as a group
 
c. The groups will come together and a leader from each group will present his/her group’s learning points in three areas:
 
  -  In school
 
  -  At home
 
  -  In their lifetime journey

Is The Programme Safe For The Children?
• The only 2 outdoor high elements that the children will attempt are the Canopy Challenge Walk and Slab Wall.
 
a. Canopy Challenge Walk
 
-  Participants will be walking 18m above the ground but will be safely secured by a double belay cable system which will protect the climbers from start till end. Participants will only be required to complete a short distance of 25m
 
b. Slab Wall
 
-  Participants will be encouraged to climb between 5-10m up the wall. The gradient of the wall caters to climbers of all ages, from the young to adults. At any point of time, climbers will be wearing a harness secured to safety cables. For every climber on the wall, one Adventure Trainer will act as the belayer i.e. the safety officer who will guide the climber up the wall and protect the climber from any fall by controlling the safety cable from the ground
• The Adventure Trainers will conduct safety briefing and demo prior to the start of both activities. At the same time, should any participant gets stuck along the course, the Trainers will carry out drills that will bring the participant back to safety.
• All participants will be required to complete the Indemnity cum Individual Medical History Declaration form prior to engaging in any activities at the SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre.

Who Is The Programme For?
• This camp is for children aged between 7 to 12 years of age.

What Is The Duration Of The Programme?
• The programme will be conducted over 1 day from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
  * For LVI BASC centres, it will be over 2 days from 9.00am to 1.00pm.

When Will The Programme Be Held?
• Please refer to schedule proposed.

Where Will The Programme Be Held?
• This programme will be held at SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre (SASC) at SAFRA Yishun Country Club.

What Are The Fees? Are There Any Discount Schemes?
 
  FEES (u.p $100.00)
1. Exclusive for LVI BASC children $80.00
2. For children of LVI parents who have siblings in BASC $85.00
3. For children of LVI parents who do not have siblings in BASC $85.00
4. For children of LVI parents but who have siblings in childcare (not in BASC) $85.00
5. For children of LVG* staff who are not LVI parents
*LVG: LVI (Centre & HQ), LCI, LH		 $85.00
$5.00 (Sibling Discount)
6. For ex-K2 LVI children $90.00
7. For children of LH Parents (Public Program) $90.00
$5.00 (Sibling Discount)
8. For children of LVI Corp partners/Clients, LCI stds $100.00

9. For children of Primary Schools or other BASC centres Depending on no. of chn enrolled
10. For children of non-LVG & non-LH parents $100.00
  * Note: Fees are to be paid in full before the program commences. Children will not be allowed to join the programme unless their name is on the finalized namelist. Fees may be subjected to change.

What Costs Are Included In The Pricing For The Programme?
• Transportation to and from centre*
• Ferry service to and from Khatib MRT (move-off: 8.45am) and Yishun SAFRA (move-off: 5.30pm)
• Insurance cover
• Training delivery by Adventure Trainers (Ratio: 1 Adventure Trainer per group of 10)
• Activity materials
• Standard equipment and facilities
• Certificate of Achievement
  * Only applicable for LVI BASC children, their siblings, LVG staff children & ex-K2 LVI children.

Who Are The Programme Trainers?
• The Adventure Trainers will be from SAFRA Adventure Hub. They are skilled and experienced in conducting and facilitating programs for both children and adults. They are also equipped with rope courses management, sport climbing certification and risk assessment skills for adventure-related activities.
• The Adventure Trainers will provide a physically, intellectually and emotionally safe environment for the participants to:
 
-  Be fully immersed in the activities
 
-  Understand self and others
 
-  Try out and explore new roles and behaviors
 
-  Share and discuss the experience
 
-  Transfer the experience to their lifetime journey

What Attire Is Appropriate? What Else Does My Child Need To Bring?

• T -shirt
• Track Pants
• Swimming attire
• Sport shoes (fully covered)
• Spare set of clothes for change
• Basic shower toiletries (optional)
• Water bottle (optional)

When And How Do We Register?
• For LVI BASC, LVI parents, ex-K2 LVI parents, LVI Centre Staff: Parents can register directly with the centre. Registration forms can be collected from the centre.
• For others: Parents can register directly with Learning Horizon. Registration forms will be emailed to them with EDM.
   
• The deadline for registration is 5 working days before the start of the camp. Late registration will be dealt with on a case to case basis, subject to vacancy. NO registrations will be entertained once the session has started. Parents can register by one of the following ways:
 
-  Come down to the centre/LH* to fill up the registration form and make payment
 
-  Mail their cheques and registration form to the centre/LH
 
-  Mail their cheques and fax the registration form to the centre/LH
  * Note: LVI BASC children, their siblings, LVG Centre staff children & ex-K2 LVI children to register at centre while LVG HQ staff children and others will liaise with LH.

How Do We Pay?
