What Is ADVENTURESCAPE All About? |

It is an adventure program organised by Learning Horizon engaging the expertise of SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre (SASC). Offered to children between the ages of 7 - 12 years old, this specially designed one-day outdoor program will fully engage students as a team to completing all the given challenges and tasks, progressing from simple to demanding ones. |

What Is So Unique About This Programme? Why Should I Send My Child? |

The program provide opportunities for the students on the Development of Trust, Brainstorming as a Group and Fostering of Mutual Support while attempting some of the more difficult yet safe challenges such as the Canopy Challenge Walk and Slab Climbing, followed each time by debriefs to drive home the important learning points. |

This program will be Interactive and Experiential in nature. It employs an adventure-oriented “Learning by Doing” approach to meet the following program objectives: |

Fostering the team rapport and understanding its importance |

Using a “building blocks” approach, the complicity and demands of the challenges given to the participants will increase with time. This is based on the underlying principle of success breeds confidence in each level of success that will spur them on to the next level. The more demanding the tasks, the greater will be the sense of achievement and sense of belonging when they succeed. |

What Activities Can My Child Look Forward To During The Programme? |

The day’s programme is divided into two major components: |

Activities e.g. Blow Wind, Blow, Sumo Tapping, Pirates of the Caribbean |

To reinforce notion of team building, bonding, communication and trust |

To introduce a situation of chaos where the participants will derive understanding of team dynamics |

The ADVENTURESCAPE Challenge (3 hours) |
|
| |
| a. |
This is a series of activities that need to be accomplished by participants in a team. |
|
| |
| b. |
These activities have different levels of difficulties and to accomplish them within a specified time. |
|
| |
| c. |
After accomplishing each activity, the trainer will conduct a quick debrief to effect transfer of learning before releasing the group to its next activity. |

4. |
Is The Programme Safe For The Children? |
| • |
The only 2 outdoor high elements that the children will attempt are the Canopy Challenge Walk and Slab Wall. |
| |
|
| |
| - |
Participants will be walking 18m above the ground but will be safely secured by a double belay cable system which will protect the climbers from start till end. Participants will only be required to complete a short distance of 25m |
|
| |
|
| |
| - |
Participants will be encouraged to climb between 5-10m up the wall. The gradient of the wall caters to climbers of all ages, from the young to adults. At any point of time, climbers will be wearing a harness secured to safety cables. For every climber on the wall, one Adventure Trainer will act as the belayer i.e. the safety officer who will guide the climber up the wall and protect the climber from any fall by controlling the safety cable from the ground |

The Adventure Trainers will conduct safety briefing and demo prior to the start of both activities. At the same time, should any participant gets stuck along the course, the Trainers will carry out drills that will bring the participant back to safety. |

All participants will be required to complete the Indemnity cum Individual Medical History Declaration form prior to engaging in any activities at the SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre. |

This camp is for children aged between 7 to 12 years of age. |

The Adventure Trainers will be from SAFRA Adventure Hub. They are skilled and experienced in conducting and facilitating programs for both children and adults. They are also equipped with rope courses management, sport climbing certification and risk assessment skills for adventure-related activities. |
