
Junior Music Programme (MIM®)
PAN BEINI serves the school as a teacher of Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM) courses and piano and flute teachers. Beini graduated from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, NUS as a Flute major. She is a Piano minor as well. Before she came to Singapore, Beini was a flute student in the Central Conservatory of Music and also the Principal Flute in China Youth Symphony Orchestra.
As a Flute and Piano teacher, Beini has experience teaching students of all ages. She understands the needs of the student, be it learning for leisure or learning to take exams. She is a very responsible and patient teacher and she will use different methods of teaching to deliver her lessons to different kinds of students.
Beini has received several awards in the Flute and Piano competition as well as Chamber Music competition. She has been invited to give master classes in Shenyang Army Conservatory of Music in 2006. Her vast experience is an invaluable asset in cultivating the interest and bringing out the best in her students.
SHIELY ANN O. PRAMIS serves the school as a teacher for Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM) courses. She graduated with a Diploma of Bachelor in Elementary Education, major in Music in Universidad de Sta Isabel, Philippines. She has been a music teacher for the past ten years in one of the primary schools and served as cultural coordinator of the whole district. As cultural coordinator, she conducted trainings/workshops in music instructions; organized music and art performances as well as competitions. She served also as private piano/keyboard tutor, especially to younger kids. She believes that teaching is her calling and it’s the meaning of her life.
AMANDA SOON serves the school as a teacher of Piano and the Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM) courses. She recently graduated with a ‘Diploma in Performance – Classical Stream’ with LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts and will continue to pursue BA (Hons) in Music (Classical), from Open University, UK in-campus course with LaSalle-SIA for another year.
She started giving piano lessons in the year of 2003. She is good at providing all round creative music courses to children, training children to use their eyes, ears and hands effectively when making music.
Her objectives are to become a good role model in music learning. She diligently improves her music knowledge and teaching techniques from time to time in order to pass on the benefits to her students.
LYNN PANG serves the school as a teacher of Piano and the Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM) courses. She began her musical journey at a tender age, taking piano lessons and participating in the Chinese Orchestra in her primary school. Her musical experience was broadened when she enrolled in the Music Elective Programme at college where she also joined the college band and took part in various group and solo performances. She also served in her church as a pianist and singer.
Ms Pang has had many years of teaching experience and has taught in various capacities, both as a private piano teacher and a classroom music teacher at secondary school level. She holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the National Institute of Education, majoring in Music and Literature. She has also completed her ABRSM Grade 8 in Piano and Theory.
Having worked with children of all ages and differing abilities, Ms Pang believes in developing the musical genius in every young child. She hopes to inspire her students to have a love for learning and a passion for music.
MARCIA serves the school as a teacher of Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM) courses. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education Specialize in Voice at the Conservatory of Music, Centro Escolar University, Manila, Philippines. While in University, she actively participated in Christmas Cantata (Concert) (1993 & 1994) and the 100 years of Dr. Jose Rizal (Play) (1996) as a choir member - Mezzo Soprano.
Her vocal repertoire includes Classical, Broadway, Ballad, Contemporary and Pop songs. I have 11 years of extensive teaching experience in well-established music schools in Manila and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Marcia has also conducted classes for individuals or group from hobbyist to performing artiste of different age group (4 years old to 65 years old). Apart from teaching she also has some performing experience as a Lead / Back-up singer at Functions or Dinner shows.
TANG LEE SWAN serves the school as a teacher of Piano and the Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM) courses. She graduated with a Masters in Music, after completing her degree with 1st Class Honours from the University of Adelaide. She has a string of accolades to her musical career, such as the Eisteddfod Chopin Piano Prize, Musica Viva Sonata Prize, awarded the Merit Scholarship for her academic excellence and was named the Most Promising Young Pianist in South Australia. A frequent performer, she performed regularly as a solo pianist and toured Australia with the New Music Ensemble and performed on various occasions with the Elder Wind Ensemble. She also performs for the Singapore Philharmonic Wind Ensemble, and as an accompanist and repetiteur for various opera and musical productions.
She has worked with some of the foremost music education consultants to design and implement comprehensive Arts Development Programmes for selected schools. Programme comprises of music, dance and drama training with foreign/local guest artistes and arts appreciation activities.
As a music educator, she taught for more than ten years, and had shared her musical passion with children of all ages.
KAREN LOW serves the school as a teacher of Piano and the Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM) courses. She has a Grade 8 ABRSM Piano qualification and is currently pursuing her ABRSM Diploma in Teaching (Piano). Coming from a Banking, PR and Marketing background, she has diverse experience in communications, creative planning as well as finance. Karen's passion & enthusiasm in music has led her to fully devote herself to music education and focus on upgrading herself in music. Quoting Friedrich Nietzsche, "Without music, life would be a mistake".
Karen was part-time teaching previously since early 2005. Having taught a 2-year children music course at a music school as well as experience in teaching at child care centres, she has classroom experience and is familiar with handling young children. She is a dedicated teacher who strongly believes that children have a musical vitality i.e. their own way of being musical in the world and that each child is uniquely gifted. With that awareness, all children must be met at their own musical terms. Observing and listening to the child in music helps her to build a real understanding of 'where they are', she believes in growing with the children.
A further note on her background - Karen actively goes for public playing opportunities. She has been playing piano and guitar for church main services for more than 6 years, as well as led the children church music team for 5 years previously. She played the keyboard and song-led occasionally in settings of 100 children or more, their age ranges from 3 to 12. In addition, she has conducted trainings as well as led carolling groups of 30-50 people for public performances. These groups were secondary school children, and another a golden age group. She also played piano for about 10 wedding services so far. She has a vivacious and engaging personality, and is a diligent teacher who always seeks to bring out the best in her students.
MARIA THERESA E CEMBRANO serves the school as a teacher of Piano and the Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM) courses. She is a graduate of Bachelor of Music Major in Music Education.
She has taught voice and piano for 4 years to selected students with age ranging from early childhood age to 15 years of age. She was also a project coordinator for the Seasons Chorale Group that plans and coordinates for group performances and activities. She has been trained as a practicum classroom teacher for 3 years handling students from all levels of grade school to high school. Her other training includes Voice and stage performance, lessons and seminars. She is able to plan and organize a range of individual and group activities, including role play, movement dance, singing, games, arts and crafts and nature activities.
She has conducted indoor and outdoor activities for positive and safe learning environment using creative and practical skills to prepare inspiring learning materials. She is capable to monitor and report on children's development and identifying those with possible learning difficulties.
THOMAS TAN has a distinguished teaching career and has been with the Ministry of Education (MOE) for over 40 years as a Music Specialist. He was Head of the MOE Music Unit (Curriculum) and was the Assistant Director of CCA Music. Trained in Paris, France, he has been instrumental in developing the Music Curriculum for Primary and Secondary schools as well as the Syllabus for the Music Elective Programme (MEP) leading to the GCE “O” and “A” Level Music. He was also involved with the organization of the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) and the development of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO).
In conjunction with MOE and in collaboration with the National Institute of Education (NIE), he has conducted numerous courses and workshops on music teaching for school teachers. He has also worked with such agencies as the National Arts Council (NAC), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), La-Salle SIA College of the Arts and other national and international bodies on the promotion of music and the arts.
He is currently teaching the MIM Programme at Seimpi School of Music, conducting workshops for teachers and parents on Music in Early Childhood Education and is also preparing candidates for the Associate Diploma of Music Pedagogy (Assoc Dip MP). He holds a Master of Education and has also completed a Specialist Diploma in Pre-School Education (Teaching & Leadership). He has developed a revolutionary and eclectic approach to the teaching of music, appealing and adapting to the multiple senses, learning styles and holistic development of young children.
REGINA HO attained her Trinity College practical and theory Grade 8 in piano, Yamaha Performance and Fundamental Grade 5 in organ, Teaching Certificate in music, Learning Vision Certificate in Pre-school Teaching. She is currently a piano and organ teacher in profession.
She was an organ teacher since age 19, teaching courses ages from 6 years to adults in Yamaha Music School for 21 years before moving on. During her employment, she had been an examiner for the Yamaha organ graded examination. She was involved in the students’ annual concerts and Teachers’ Concert as well.
Regina taught IT music and theory in public primary schools for 2 years. After which, was employed by Learning Horizon to teach Junior Music Program enrichment course for 3 years at Learning Vision. Currently with Seimpi Music School, she teaches the MIM enrichment course at Learning Vision. Her love for children has led her to make her choice to continue her career, teaching music in childcare centres.
ONG RUIQI has been giving private violin lessons for the last 7 years to children of all ages. On top of that she has been conducting violin lessons in various local primary schools for their String Ensemble as CCA and SYF (Singapore Youth Festival) competitions. Since 2002, she has been conducting the Junior Music Programme at Learning Vision centres and had acquired a Certificate in Pre-school Teaching (CPT) from Learning Capital in 2005. Also, she holds a Diploma in Violin Performance from London College of Music with distinction.
Whilst pursuing her studies, she was an active member in the School's String Ensemble Group where they perform annually for school events and has travelled throughout Asia for performances. Till now, she still plays the violin in different orchestra groups as a guest player or alumni player during her free time for performances.
FIONA LIM serves the school as a teacher for Music for the Intelligent Mind (MIM) courses. Fiona started giving private music tuition to individuals since she was in secondary school on a casual basis. Her students were mostly schoolmates who wanted to play popular tunes on the piano with simple accompaniment. Being able to play these songs by ear, she simplified these songs, making them teachable even to those who could not read any musical score.
Throughout her secondary school and college days, Fiona played an integral role as a solo pianist. She provided live music at school functions ranging from musicals to celebratory concerts. As a college pianist, she represented her college choir in various competitions, such as the Singapore Youth Festival. By the time she graduated with her 'A' levels in 1998, she had earned her music qualifications from both ABRSM and Trinity College of Music. She pursued her Bachelor of Computing (with Merit) from NUS between 1999 and 2002, putting a hold on her music career temporarily. She even found time to be in competitive ballroom dancing. Having earned the degree she worked as a Web Developer from the point she graduated till 2003, when she decided to go back to music education. Fiona started giving private coaching to individuals and gradually specialized in music pedagogy. In 2004 she started her work with groups of children (two and half years onwards) at several childcare centres.
Since then, she acquired a Certificate in Pre-school Teaching (CPT) from Learning Capital in 2005. She became a licensed MIM teacher in the year of 2006. She specializes in developing interesting music curriculum, integrating musicianship skills, music mapping and keyboard training. She has been a popular MIM teacher in both childcare centres and kindergartens.
